Great Video On How to build a Galil AR, ARM, SAR Or R4 By BFGMovies

The Israeli Galil rifles have long fascinated me. As part of my journey, I do hope to build one so I keep my eye out for videos. While on Youtube the other day, I stumbled across this build video done by BFGMovies – Flandre Scarlets. For those of you who have not seen his work, he is a very talented young man who has posted some amazing videos on building AKs, how to convert a Tiger into a SVD and more.

In this video, Flandre steps you through a Galil build including how to install the bullet guide, barrel, extractor notch, gas tube, trigger guard and more. It’s top notch work and well worth watching.

Here, Flandre is inserting the barrel getting reading to thread it into position. He explains how he had to cut flats on the barrel for the torque wrench and how to adjust headspace.
Here, he has inserted a “go” headspace gage and is getting ready to test the rifle.
Flandre is wrapping up the build – you can see the fire control spring sticking up.

Here’s The Video

Video: How to convert the Tigr into an SVD Dragunov by bfgmovies — Excellent

I really want a Dragunov.  While I will probably never be able to afford a real SVD, a Tigr is a possibility so this video really caught my eye.  Now the fellow doing the video is really interesting.  He’s very active on gun boards and really knows his stuff.  He basically goes through the steps you need to convert a Tigr to a SVD.  Now, I just need to go sell a body part and get a Tigr one of these days.

Video: RANGE TIME: SVD Dragunov VS VEPR (Izhmash Tigr VS Molot Vepr 7.62x54R) by bfgmovies

The first 25 minutes of this video is a side by side comparison of a Vepr to a Tigr.  He does a good job of showing people that Tigr, and other Dragunovs, are not just an oversized AK and actually are a different design.  The presenter has both right there and then when he shoots them you can see the amazing difference between the Vepr shooting around 1.1-1.9 MOA and the Tigr shot about 0.39 MOA.  It’s an interesting 33:25 long video and worth your time.

By the way, don’t let his young looks and the anime fool you – he knows his stuff.  He did an excellent video on how to build an AK-47/74/AKM from scratch.  Click here to watch it.

Video: How to build an AK-47, AK-74, AKM. Complete video tutorial by bfgmovies — Best Rivet and Virgin Barrel Build Video I’ve Seen!

Folks, once in a while I find out a snap judgement I made is very wrong.  I was watching AK Build videos on Youtube and ran across this video with a very young man with long hair and anime shirt sitting down to talk about building an AK.  I almost snorted because it must be some kind of a gag.  Within the first five minutes I realized this young man was very knowledgeable, articulate and very capable at demonstrating how to build an AK.  I was floored.  I almost missed this because my snap judgement was so off.  Wow.

This young man assembled a 55:59 long video showing you how to do an AK build with a manufactured receiver using a virgin barrel and he explains things along the way.  To give you an idea of the quality, this video was posted in May 2013, has had 104,441 views, 1,114 thumbs up approvals and only 74 thumbs down.  Folks, that is remarkable.

I am sharing a number of photos from the video to get you to realize this is really good.  He steps you through everything including aligning the blocks on the barrels, the barrel to the receiver, drilling pin holes, headspacing, setting rivets and then final assembly, including installation of the fire control group (FCG), function testing, installing the furniture, and finally winding up with applying Alumahyde II from Brownells as the finish.  I’d honestly say it is the best AK build video I have seen thus far that takes you all the way through the process.  This is really worth your time.

P.S.  The music and anime at the end is a nice touch 🙂
